Meet the Executive Board

At the end of each semester, the BU chapter of SPJ elects who will hold an executive board position for the next semester. The following BU students make up the Fall 2012 e-board:

President:

Meredith Perri is a junior at Boston University majoring in journalism. In a little over two years at BU, the aspiring sports journalist and New York native has covered nearly every sport for The Daily Free Press and was the sports editor during the spring of 2012. Meredith is also an intern at She’s Game Sports and spent her summer interning with Sportsnet New York and MetsBlog.com.

Vice President:

Jay Schwartz is a magazine journalism and psychology dual degree student entering his junior year. At BU he leads the school’s slam poetry club and is an RA on the Warren Towers College of Communication floor. Jay’s favorite things include, but are not limited to: eggplant, Bjork, Debussy, bow ties and the smell of scotch tape. He dreams of publishing his own lifestyle magazine, but Jay’s biggest aspiration is to be a judge on a reality competition show like Chopped or Project Runway.

Secretary:

Samantha Wood is the secretary of BU SPJ, which means she sends out all the emails and takes notes at each of the meetings. Sometimes she even gets to write on the board. She is a magazine journalism major who has interned at The Sun Chronicle, BostInno and now Boston Magazine. Samantha hopes to work for a food magazine in California one day.

Nicole Leonard is the social media co-chair for BU SPJ and is studying journalism as a junior at Boston University. She writes for BU’s independent newspaper, The Daily Free Press, and BU’s lifestyle magazine, The Buzz. You can hear her Friday mornings as a co-DJ on WTBU’s radio station. Her goal is to work as a hard news reporter in New York City, where she’ll be close to her hometown of Howell, N.J.
